Early Morning Ride up Mount Hamilton

Left the house at 6:00 AM this morning to climb Mount Hamilton ( the hills just east of San Jose, CA) up as far as Grant Ranch Park. It was just getting light out with no traffic so it was an excellent morning to ride. It was a bit cold out this morning with fog forming at the base of mountain. The goal was to make it to the Muddy Buddy adventure race. I arrived at 7:30, wow...1 hour and 30 minutes which is not bad for a big guy like me. Hopefully this puts me closer to getting in shape for the a Eastern Sierra backpacking trip at the end of June.

Late Start at Spring

With the crazy wet winter weather we have had here in California it was extremely hard to get back on the bike especially after having completed 5,000 miles last year. With about 5 days of really pleasant weather the temperature has now shot up past the mid eighties! With the additional smoggy hazy, I really felt worked after todays ride.

It was real fun though....At one point I raced a beer truck and tried to maintain a pace of about 30 miles for a bit. Good times.
